Maximilian Mauracher is a designer, founder and managing director of NEW STANDARD.S. The Berlin-based studio uses design as a strategic tool to address environmental and social challenges in the fields of sustainability, the circular economy and urban development, and translates systemic issues into effective formats for participation, engagement and communication.
He is co-founder of the circular social business Kreisler, which develops and operates neighbourhood circular centres in urban areas and is scaling up across Germany as a social franchise.
He is also a visiting lecturer at HWR Berlin and HSBI Bielefeld, as well as a member of the DDC (German Design Club) and Circular Berlin e.V., and engages with questions relating to design and its role in the context of post-growth and degrowth through research and practical projects.
