Michael Biel is State Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. He holds a degree in political science from the Free University of Berlin. Biel has extensive experience in the German Bundestag, where he held various senior positions working for several Members of Parliament between 2004 and 2021. In December 2021, Biel was appointed State Secretary. In 2023, he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives.
In April 2023, Biel was reappointed State Secretary for Economic Affairs and, in connection with this, resigned his seat as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. Among other roles, Biel is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of WISTA, Germany’s largest technology park in Berlin-Adlershof.
