Jessica McGowan

Jessica McGowan is a creative director and graphic designer whose practice spans branding, editorial publishing, photography direction, and spatial storytelling. Through her studio, JM. Office, she develops strategic visual identities, emotive art direction, and thoughtful digital experiences for brands across hospitality, fashion, culture, and design. Her work is grounded in the belief that design functions as both art and dialogue, shaping not only how brands are seen, but how they are experienced. Jessica began her career in Sydney, Australia, working in photo art direction in fashion advertising. This foundation led her to New York City, where she worked across fashion and creative industries with clients such as Apple and Helmut Lang. Her practice expanded beyond image direction into brand identity design, driven by an interest in combining graphic design systems with brand world building. Following her move to Berlin, Jessica spent four years working at 
Slowness, where she played a key role in shaping the group’s visual identity. During this time, she helped develop and launch projects including SOFI, the bakery, and the performance space Reethaus, working across creative direction, brand design, and the broader guest experience. Alongside her commercial practice, Jessica is a co-founder of Primary Paper, an independent print publication dedicated to contemporary photography.
