Uli Mayer-Johanssen is a communication designer and an expert in identity-based brand management. After studying Visual Communication at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), she co-founded the corporate identity agency MetaDesign in 1990, which—under her strategic leadership—became Germany’s leading branding agency. In 2015, she established Uli Mayer-Johanssen GmbH, through which she supports companies in value-oriented transformation and positioning processes, with a focus on holism and systemic sustainability.
With the initiative Designing Future, launched in 2016, she promotes synergistic cooperation and new solution pathways in the spirit of sustainable development. Since 1994, she has shared her expertise as a lecturer and visiting professor, including at the UdK Berlin, ESCP Europe, and the University of St. Gallen Business School, as well as in numerous professional training formats and conferences.
Since 2014, Uli Mayer-Johanssen has served on the supervisory board of the University Hospital Düsseldorf and is active in various foundation and advisory boards—among others with Common Purpose, the Berlinische Galerie, and the German Foundation for Monument Protection. She has been appointed Honorary Senator of the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Sciences. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Club of Rome Germany, where she has once again served on the executive board since 2023.
