Lutz Henke is a curator and cultural scientist from Berlin. As Director of Culture at visitBerlin, he has a deep connection to the city’s many facets, including its stakeholders and public and cultural policies. He implements innovative programs in Berlin or worldwide and directs various special formats, including 49h ICC and the Metropolitan Conference for the Immediate Present: Q Berlin Questions.
In his independent practice, he continues to collaborate closely with artists and lead cultural projects worldwide, spanning the North and South Poles, the Algerian desert, and Manhattan. Henke’s work, research and curatorial activities focus on urban spaces and the public domain, memory and remembrance, aesthetic interventions and frontiers in all their forms. He has founded various project spaces, received a grant from Olafur Eliasson’s “Institute for Spatial Experiments”, taught at several art schools and universities, published a variety of texts and worked with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, amongst many other institutions.
