Boris Kochan
President, Deutscher Designtag
Panel maoderator
Boris Kochan shapes companies, organizations, relationships, and connections – as an entrepreneur, designer, author, as curator, moderator, and consultant. Since 2016 he has been the founding president of the Deutscher Designtag, the umbrella association of German design organizations, and also represented it in the Deutscher Kulturrat (German Cultural Council), where he served as vice president from 2019 to 2025.
From 2007 to 2014 he chaired the Typographische Gesellschaft München. As co-founder and president of the international GRANSHAN Foundation, he advocates for the diversity of non-Latin writing systems. With the Editorial Design Conference EDCH, which he initiated, he shaped discourses on design and society for almost a decade. Since 2020 he has been publishing the weekly newsletter magazine eight days a week – Forays through Change.
In 1981, still a student, he co-founded a graphic and text studio with friends – the seed of what later became Kochan & Partner, today one of Germany’s established branding and design agencies. After more than four decades at its helm, he remains connected to the firm as majority shareholder and senior advisor.
